2013 SoDA Board of Directors

Tony is a founder of SoDA and Chairman of the Board. Tony is credited with naming the organization and was one of two founding members to bring the original meeting in Miami to fruition back in 2006. He is also on the board of the Communications School of Elon University. Tony Quin founded IQ in 1995 as an agency specializing in television. In 1999, IQ began the transformation to a digital agency. Today IQ is a full service agency with digital at its core, and counts numerous Fortune 100 companies as clients. Tony is from the UK and still likes warm beer and scotch without ice.

As Board Chairman in 2011 and 2012, Tony has led successful negotiations with major organizational sponsors. In addition, Tony continues to work closely with SoDA’s Executive Director on new ideas and initiatives for SoDA in alignment with the organization’s overall strategy and mission. His vision and leadership as Board Chairman have contributed greatly to the growth and development of the organization over the past 2 years. IQ continues to contribute production services and additional support for SoDA’s many programs and activities as required.

Nancy is an experienced Chief Operating Officer with over 20 years experience with advertising, direct marketing, content, social media, and innovative technology companies . She has managed finance, administration, human resources and IT departments for privately held/venture backed entities through IPOs. Prior to that Nancy worked for several years in public accounting at Ernst and Young and Deloitte and Touche in San Francisco and New York and was one of the founding members of the Entrepreneurial Services Group. Nancy is a CPA (inactive) and has a BS in Accounting from Golden Gate University. At Executive Director Chris Buettner’s request, Nancy has also communicated her willingness to advise SoDA on financing issues related to new projects and initiatives planned for 2013. Nancy is based in Pereira & O’Dell’s San Francisco office.

Stuart has a Masters Degree in Engineering and 10 years experience as a software engineer, technical architect and management consultant working on internal systems and large-scale websites and applications. In 2007 he founded Made By Many with Tim Malbon, William Owen and Isaac Pinnock to create an agency to design, build and propagate awesome new platforms and services for the coming web. At MxM Stuart acts as the current Managing Partner and lead technologist. He is an advocate of Agile project methodologies and Lean Manufacturing philosophies applied to the strategy, design and development of digital services.

Stuart, a SoDA veteran, has been an active member of our European Committee and is eager to help grow the organization’s membership base in the UK and throughout Europe.

An industry recognized pioneer with over 18 years of experience in interactive marketing, DJ is a co-founder of Zemoga. He received his BFA from Pratt Institute, began his career at Saatchi and Saatchi and DDB Needham and left to create his own award winning digital agency, Underline in 1992. Underline was later sold to Context Integration in 1999. In 2001, he teamed with former Underline creative colleague Alejandro Gomez to start one of the first companies to leverage the “Near Shore Interactive Services Model” from Bogotá, Colombia. Zemoga is currently comprised of 120 Interactive professionals in 3 offices servicing clients like SEARS, HBO, Toyota and Pfizer with strategy, technology, design and metrics.

This past year, DJ served on SoDA’s Sponsorship Committee, helping to identify and broker new sources of funding for the organization – including a new organizational sponsor which we hope to announce in January 2013.

A digital marketing and client services professional with more than two decades of experience, Rebecca Flavin is chief executive officer at EffectiveUI, where she drives the company’s overall vision and direction, and has helped numerous Fortune 500 companies realize the intrinsic business value in focusing on user experience (UX) as a key component of their digital strategy.

Under Rebecca’s oversight, Inc. ranked EffectiveUI the No. 5 woman-run, privately owned business in America in 2009. Dedicated to providing exemplary customer service, Rebecca works closely with internal teams and clients to ensure that EffectiveUI’s solutions improve the emotional connections between a brand and its customers.

This past year, Rebecca served on SoDA’s Sponsorship Committee, helping to identify and broker new sources of funding for the organization.

Steve Glauberman founded Enlighten in 1983 as one of the nation’s first interactive agencies with a vision for how technology could be used to help companies market their products more effectively. Under Steve’s leadership, Enlighten quickly established a sterling reputation for creating work that was visually stunning, technically powerful, and conceptually groundbreaking. To this day, Enlighten remains committed to creating integrated brand experiences that forge meaningful relationships with consumers by offering a wide range of digital services all within an independent agency. Steve is a graduate in Computer Science from the University of Michigan.

Steve is currently serving on SoDA’s Governance Committee, overseeing the organization’s financials and compliance with 501c6 regulations. Most recently, he spearheaded SoDA’s KPI Survey initiative together with members of the Financial / Operations Peer Group, and volunteered Enlighten’s creative services to design all of SoDA’s print and collateral materials for our events at SXSW 2012.

Andrew Howlett has been leading Rain since 2003, helping position the company as a leading creative technology agency. Since graduating from Brigham Young University with a finance emphasis, Andrew has run finance departments for global telecom companies, owned a sock company and started (and still owns) a drop-ship janitorial supply company. As a company, Rain’s creativity in solving technical tasks has earned them many awards and positioned them as the go-to company for creative web, desktop and mobile application development. Andrew is the proud father of three children, husband to a patient and lovely wife, and one of the best arm-chair quarterbacks around.

For the past 3 years, Andrew’s agency has developed and provided all techinal and maintenance support supported for the SoDA website, including a number of enhancements that will be deployed in the coming months. His agency also developed and maintains SoDA’s mobile application. He has served on SoDA’s Education Committee and is currently a member of our Sponsorship Committee, helping to identify and broker new sources of funding for the organization. He has been particularly instrumental in helping advance our organizational relationship with Adobe.

Joe Olsen is the co-founder and CEO of Phenomblue. Founded in 2004, the interactive brand experience was named one of the top 25 agencies on the West Coast and has received agency of the year nominations in 2011. Joe is also a frequent industry speaker and serial entrepreneur with Phenomblue being his third startup. Prior to that, Joe was a software consultant creating emerging media solutions and driving strategic technology planning for direct clients on behalf of technology companies including Microsoft, Adobe, and Apple. Joe’s studied Architecture, Computer Science, and Business at Iowa State University, MCC, and Bellevue University.

This past year Joe has been a member of SoDA’s North American Membership Committee and his support has been instrumental in helping to identify and vet leading digital companies as prospective SoDA members.

Matheus is a Business Administration graduate with degree in Marketing. Prior to joining CUBOCC, most of his career was spent at Unilever – first in the Finance Department, at Unilever Latin America, and then in the Marketing departments of Rexona/Degree, AXE and OMO, at Unilever Brazil. He joined CUBOCC as Channel Director to create the agency’s media team and became the COO after the merger with IPG to grow and expand the business.
